RookTournamentInformation

I am planning to host a Tournament, called "Rook Tournament". The idea is to try and get the site a tad more active with the offer of prizes. (Cash, gift card, me dancing a jig and singing a rap.)

So I'll start listing this out as some thoughts for now and then I'll focus it down into rules, etc.

I want to have a Newbie Rook Tournament and a Veteran Rook Tournament. I know regulation of who's a "newbie" and who's a "veteran" would be nearly impossible so I'm hoping people will go by the honor system here. By newbie I mean, those who KNOW they really aren't good at starcraft but still want to play. I want to give them a chance to actually win a prize. If I just meshed everybody together, Veterans and Newbies, well, we all know who is going to win. (Generally speaking.)

Again the problem would be, who's which and what? Hmm. Wish there was some way to separate people... Maybe take a vote? Or just post, "Lucky sucks. Put him with the newbs."? Maybe somebody will drop me a line on AIM (PsyReaver188) or email me schultzbrent at hotmail dot com on what to do here.

Then, of course, would the newbie winner get a cheaper prize? (Compared to the Veterans Tournament?) Or something still worthwhile? That's a tough choice. I would love to have worthwhile prizes for both Tournaments but then that might create a problem with people being honest about their skill level. Not that I doubt anybody in the community but newcomers might pose a problem.

I want to break the two Tournaments into subgroups. 1v1, 2v2, and FFA. FFA size could be 4 FFA, 6 FFA and 8 FFA range so people can choose and don't have to be stuck in a LONG game. That's all I can think about so far.

Please leave a comment in the Wiki Forum if you have anything else to add.
