TURN BRIGHTNESS DOWN!
Hey, long time no see =D.
It's been what, a year?
I've recently started playing Warcraft
3, and got hooked. I decided to start reporting, but not on me yet,
I suck too much right now =\. I've decided to report a replay I found
at our trusty replays.net. Even though my knowledge of W3 is limited
right now, I'll try and bring out the more important aspects of the
game. I also chose a short game, just to start with something easier
to report. So you can expect something bigger in the near (or maybe
not so near) future. Today I bring you a game between two very skilled
players; Wise_Deepcut and NO.1[S-H]. So set yourself up comfortably,
get some pop (or as americans would put it, a Soda drink), chips and
cranberry-raisin toasts and check out diz bootiful Flash I made just
for you! Oh and it was made on a P800, so for if your computer
is more powerful or a lot weaker than 800, the Flash won't be in sync
with the music heheh.

Ok maybe it
wasn't really that stormy, but it sounds cool right? Anyways, this match
takes place on Frostsaber, a medium sized 4 player map. For you few
who might be suffering chronic-psychodramatic alzeimer's disease (whatever
that means), well here's the map.
No.1 gets the western-most start position as orange Night Elves and
Deepcut starts at the bottom middle position, as yellow Humans. No.1
opts for a standard base build, going Altar/Well. Deepcut, on the other
side, decides to delay his farm and starts his Barracks about 40 seconds
in. No.1 sends out one of his five starting wisps south, and immediately
finds a Human encampment. Lucky him. However, he manages not to be seen.
Instead of returning the Wisp to his base, he sends it north, just above
the enemy's position. Deepcut starts training an Archmage and No.1 gets
a Demon Hunter.
With the aid of four powerful
Militia, Deepcut decides to creep the nearest accessible mine, guarded
by a pack of Gnolls. He quickly dispatches them all, and pockets a Ring
of Protection. Meanwhile, No.1 is plotting a grim plan of destruction...
no he's actually building an Ancient of War. Almost simultaneously,
the Wisp above the Human base begins the construction of a Hunter's
Hall. No.1 is obviously trying to keep his tech plans as secret as possible.
Clever guy don't you think?
Knowing that
sending his DH head on to harass would be a silly, silly idea, No.1
decides to go all the way around and come in from the east. Seeing a
few vulnerable peasants, he turns Immolation
on and starts performing a bloody work of art. The DH manages to kill
a few peasants before help arrives for the Humans. However, No.1 had
predicted that Deepcut would use Water Elementals against him, so he
had sent a few Wisps toward the Human base a few moments earlier. The
little things sped forward, threatening to detonate at any time. Deepcut
kills two of them, but the third one makes it within detonation range
of the Archmage. To my surprise, the detonation had been a little off
and didn't take away any of the Archmage's mana. A few moments earlier,
the Hunter's Hall had completed, so No.1 was now producing Huntresses.
At the Human base, Deepcut was upgrading his Town Hall.
Seeing as
to how he was now outnumbered, the DH runs like an indian on the loose,
leaving splatters of peasant blood all over Deepcut's base. A bunch
of cowboys, or Humans should I say, go after the DH. Knowing that running
the DH straight back to his base would result in Deepcut finding the
Hunter's Hall, No.1 goes north, hoping to prevent the enemy from finding
the Hunter's Hall. Alas, the diversion doesn't work, Deepcut finds the
Hall and starts tears it down, piece by piece, nail by nail. Ahem..
meanwhile, the DH is back in the Human base, this time with Huntress
backup. He kills yet more peasants. This time Deepcut succeeds in trapping
the DH, which is forced to Portal out.
Almost simultaneously,
both of our players get tier 2. Deepcut quickly begins the construction
of an Arcane Sanctuary and starts training his Mountain King, while
No.1 starts building an Ancient of Lore and calls forth a very.. uhh..
greenish, KOTG. Also, because the fool lost his Hunter's Hall, he's
forced to build a new one. Seeing as to how No.1 was week and probably
unable to cause much damage with his pathetic army, Deepcut leaves his
base and goes east to creep. There he finds a pack of Trolls, which
prove to be less than a match for the Archmage and his minions. He levels
up, pockets a Mana Stone and goes back west. His plan? Harass No.1.
He arrives at the base and quickly takes out a few wisps as well as
a Moon Well. As a display of amazing idiocy, he manages to get his Archmage
trapped by the DH, Wisps and three Huntresses. Seeing the Archmage's
health drop dangerously low, Deepcut portals back to safety.
We are now
six minutes into the game, and both players are amassing decent armies.
Deepcut is going for a Footie/Priest combination while No.1 leans toward
Huntresses and Dryads. Both players leave their armies at home for a
couple of minutes, but No.1 is first to make a move. He decides to play
it stupid, and attack the Human base head-on. Deepcut had foreseen this,
and knowing that his army was superior, he moves it back to try and
lay a trap for No.1. Does this cleverness ever come to an end?? The
NE army charges forth into Deepcut's base, unexpectant of the upcoming
surprise. Deepcut converts his lumberjacks to peasants and attacks;
on one side the Archmage, MK and Footmen, and on the other, a screaming
horde of crazy Militia. This is where I thought No.1 would lose his
entire army, but to my surprise, the KOTG arrives at the scene just
in time to portal the army back to his base. Now that's what I call
a close call.
So right now
both players are stuck with a single mine and two heroes (which are,
btw, all low level pozers). The thing is, both think they have better
armies than their enemy. Deepcut outnumbering the enemy, but having
a very bruised and battered army, while No.1 has full health heroes,
having used the rejuvenating power of his Moon Wells. Both players head
out straight for the enemy base, crossing their fingers and hoping for
the best. Deepcut's army stands at 9 Footies, MK and Archmage, while
No.1's consists of 4 Huntresses, a Dryad, DH and KOTG.
Both armies
meet near No.1's base, but the Elven commander decides to pull away
back toward his base. Deepcut finds a few stray Wisps to scalp, as well
as a Moon Well (well-Well, aha). No.1 waits a little, gets a new Huntress
and attacks. Blizzard, Mana Burn and whatnot are quickly used to weaken
more important units. The Huntresses concentrate fire on weaker Footies,
killing a few of them. The MK charges in moving as fast as his stubby
legs allow him to. Just when I thought he would Thunder-Clapatize the
lot of Huntresses, Mana Burn dispels his remaining Mana, and the Huntresses
start concentrating their fire on the MK. Its health drops to red, before
Deepcut portals out, once again.
The tide quickly
turns to No.1's favor. He immediately attacks Deepcut's base. And for
at least two whole minutes, shit dies. Both players just keep on pumping
units non-stop, the only difference being Deepcut switching his Footies
to Riflemen. Huntresses, Dryads and the KOTG battle against a few Footies,
Riflemen, Casters and the two Human Heroes. Meanwhile in the background,
the DH is facing a horde of Peasants with swords (typically known as
Militia). The DH almost dies before being pulled away, but at least
he manages to level up and kill about 10 peasants. The damage done,
No.1 fades from the battle.
Now Deepcut's
left with only a few peasants. He makes sure five are mining gold and
puts the rest to harvest lumber. He also orders one of them to build
a Farm in between both bases, just to know when No.1 is attacking. As
odd as it sounds, this puny Farm will be the focal point of almost every
battle to come. Deepcut upgrades his gunpower, as well as his Priest's
training. No.1 doesn't fool around for too long, he sends a Huntress
to scout out toward the Human base and finds the Peasant building that
precious little Farm I was talking about. He brings over the KOTG to
entangle the peasant and leaves, knowing that there are Humans about.
What must have really annoyed Deepcut here is that he needed food, and
that Farm was going to supply him what he needed. Unfortunately the
Peasant building it had been entangled, and stopped building for a while.
This prevented Deepcut from producing for a while.
But anyways,
the Farm was nearly completed, and No.1 decides to attack the Peasant
building it, of course the peasant dies, but the Farm has time to complete.
Its hit points drop to orange, before Deepcut arrives to scare away
the Elves. Deepcut pursues the enemy for a little, then turns back around.
For the next few minutes both players would be macroing like crazy Nazis
, trying to catch the other in an awkward position. They both know that
the winner of the next battle will win the game. Finally, No.1 targets
the little invincible Farm (which still doesn't end up being destroyed),
and Deepcut decides to strike. No.1 quickly Entangles the Archmage and
surrounds it, thus allowing him to kill it. Both armies dwindle to a
few men (or women if you want) each, but in the end, No.1 takes it away.
Knowing that his base would be next, Deepcut steps off the plate.
Both players
were amazing. Just by watching this replay I learnt a lot. For example,
the fact that Wisps can't attack =D. Certainly lessons were learned,
but you'll have to help me out on this one. Anyways, hope you enjoyed
this report. I do know the filesize was huge, but worth it right? I
would like to thank god giving me the strength and patience to figure
out how to solve the big problems in life (life, meaning the computer)
and Zerg~Ling, my daddy for being the only cool person left on earth.
So that's about it for me for today, I guess I'll see you in the COMMENTS
section =D.
