This is my second BR and I didn't
intend to BR this game until the game was nearly over and I don't have any
screenshots. I also played in this game, so some details may have been
missed.

The players: [ToJ]Kralgon
- I am a decent player with all the races and best with protoss. I rank
near the top in clan ToJ [ToJ]Newbie
- "I suck at 1on1's" He's [ToJ]Mark's brother and is almost as
skilled as Mark and as skilled as I. We
played a 1on1 before this game where I lost to a double gate since I went
for reaver tech with 1 gate (I don't play many PvP, and only recently had
I started teching hard with protoss instead of going double gate in almost
every game). In a 2v2, I was teamed with him, and I played lazy and got
crippled by a double rush. I lifted off my CC and floated it to my natural
(no recon done by them to see where it went) and 10 pooled and went double
CC's before doing anything else. Newbie did very well and won the game
without much trouble or help by me. Kralgon
random Protoss
Newbie random Zerg The game: Since
we were playing on a modified obs map without all the triggers, we had to
allied vision with the 2 observers manually. Newbie, on accident visioned
with me. After I noted his mistake, Tek7 (an obs) paused the game. Tek7:
restart?
Newbie: no thanks
Kralgon: u sure?
Newbie: ya Tek7 resumed the
game and soon an overlord came into sight. I knew Newbie couldn't be
rushing (thanks to the vision). Tek commented that I would've known
Newbie's position by the quick overlord and I agreed. I scouted Newbie
with a probe regardless of the vision to see exactly he was building. My
probe discovered a hatchery morphing at the expansion. Approximate
build orders: me - pylon,
gate, assimilator, pylon, cyber core, citadel, gate, archives
Newbie - hatch, pool, hatch, gas, hydra den When
Newbie saw the citadel warping in, he decided to comment on my move. Newbie:
templars?
Kralgon: nope
Newbie: speeded zealots?
Kralgon: no
Kralgon: going carriers
Newbie: k I think Newbie
figured out I was actually going templars when my archives started warping
=( Newbie made the first
offensive move of the game attacking with around 18 zerglings against my
defending 8 zealots and 2 goons. By placing my zealots to slaughter the
zerglings as they exited the ramp, I easily defeated the attack with
little or no casualties (I might've lost 1 zealot?). Newbie retreated 6
remaining zerglings to my natural to save them for later and recon.
Knowing they would be easy kills, I sent my defending force to attack the
zerglings. A probe followed the zealots and goons and started warping a
Nexus at my now safe expansion. The
storm upgrade along with 2 templars were almost completed and I maynarded
12 probes from my main to my expansion knowing it would be safe against an
attack with the new templars to supplement the zealots and goons. Another
probe nearby warped an assimilator before mining the precious minerals. When
the assimilator finished, I sent 3 probes (2 from minerals and 1 brand new
straight from the nexus) to mine more gas. At the same time, I build 2
robotics facilities in my base. A forge also began warping since I
completed or was already researching every unit specific upgrade I needed
(storm, templar energy, goon range, zealot speed). When the robo-facilities
finished, I built a robotics support bay in order to get the powerful
reavers while building a shuttle at each facility. It
had been quiet for awhile and when my reavers popped out. My scarab damage
upgrade had already completed and I queued up 5 scarabs for each reaver
and loaded it into one of my shuttles. The shuttle landed one reaver
barely in range of the mineral line and the other into the middle of it to
kill any drones that decided to run away. Unfortunately, the 2nd reaver
landed in range of a sunken and was destroyed before I reacted since I was
sending the shuttle to pick up the 1st reaver and move it to another
location before anything could attack it. Hydras came in and destroyed the
other reaver without much blood being shed by spreading the hydras out. At
this point, I knew I could grab another expansion and I decided to take
the 12. I sent a probe to build a Nexus, but I lost transmission with the
probe when it came under fire by 8 hydras on top of creep. I gathered 10
zealots and 2 dragoons and a templar and rallied them below the 12 ramp.
After seeing no sign of Newbie above the ramp, I rallied them above the
ramp and attacked. I did not need storms since the zealots did a nice job
of ripping in the hydras while the dragoons took free shots and I didn't
want to my harm my zealots with a careless storm. A few drones started to
run away and I followed them for awhile. No reinforcements came to save
the expansion and I thought immediately, "another expansion
somewhere." I sent a zealot to check the 12 natural and found nothing
so I sent 4 zealots and a goon to the 3 natural. The rest of the units
destroyed the hatch and larvae to make sure the Zerg didn't rebuild there.
During this attack, Newbie commented on my scouting technique.
I
sent 12 more units of assorted zealots and goons, and 1 templar to the 3
after my original scout troops found a Zerg infestation at the 3 o'clock
main. My reinforcing units met with my initial attack force above the ramp
and attacked the expansion. I met little resistance in the form of 3-4
sunkens with about 3 more morphing in. The zealots did a good job of
eliminated the static defenses and I stormed the drones to make sure they
didn't get away this time. This proved to be a fatal mistake. My
forces at 12 were done with the base and I sent all my zealots/goons/temps
and 1 shuttle with 2 reaver to the center. I sent a shuttle loaded with a
probe to the top right island to make another expansion. I
gathered all my units at the middle and attacked the final Zerg expansion
to limit Newbie's resources and halt his income. Only 2-3 sunkens and a
few hydras were there to repel the attack of 2 reavers, 2 templars, 6
goons, and about 12 zealots. The attack force at 3 were heading in to help
with the assault when they met a force of over 3 control groups of hydras
at the ramp. I unleashed a storm with my templar as my zealots died. I
looked at my templars energy. 70 ENERGY LEFT! I impatiently waited for the
energy to recharge as my goon count went down from 5 to 4... to 3.... to
2... STORM! I killed another 7 or so hydras in addition to my first storm
of about 9 hydras. The 2 goons fought valiantly, but were no match for the
overwhelming amount of hydras. I
awaited the hydras to return to try to eliminate my attacking forces but
nothing came. He attacked with a force of about 25-30 hydras against 2
hydras, 3 zealots, and 1 templar. The templar could only unleash 1 storm
before the hydras concentrated their green spit on it and it vaporized. I
raced my reavers from my robotics facilities to the left of my nexus to my
choke. The hydras popped all but 3 probes before my 8 reavers finished off
the 20 hydras. My main only had 2 more mineral patches so I sent my
mineral probes from the main to the expansion. My
reavers made the slow journey to the ramp at Newbie's main and I gathered
my units there awaiting for the final attack. My reaver started into the
main along with my the few remaining zealots and goons to support it. All
of a sudden, a huge yellow blob appeared at the bottom of my base. Newbie
knew he was dead, but he thought he could eliminate me before I finished
him off. I left my reavers to micro themselves, and the templar I had next
to my cannon cast 1 storm before green spit rained down on it. 8 or so
Overlords were dropping Hydralisks into my base! I had 3 templars
left at my choke and I sent them up the ramp to the top of my main awaited
the 40+ hydras to get there. I stormed them as they came closer and I got off
2 good storms, and a few horrible ones before the templars were sent back
to Auir.
There
was nothing else I could do to save the base, but I was reassured with the
presence of my island expansion. I build a forge there for drop defense
while I microed the rest of my troops to kill the Zerg main. After
the storms, I came back to see my reavers dead. They probably walked into
sunkens after they ran out of scarabs. Luckily, I had 2 more left in a
shuttle so I unloaded the reavers and proceeded to take out the remaining
buildings while I sent my shuttle to scan for expansions. When my 2
reavers, 2 goons, and 3 zealots finished with the base, my natural and
main were completely wiped out. I
found a hatchery at my old main with the shuttle while my troops were
starting to spread out to check all the spots quickly and I sent my forces
to hit the last hatchery. At my expansion, I saw an overlord coming in to
drop and I remembered I needed to build cannons. I struggled to build
cannons to stall the hydras while I killed the hatchery, but the hydras
were too much. I had 3 probes trying to build the cannons, but none of
them completed. I stalled long enough to destroy the hatchery at 6! but...
wait... It didn't say that Newbie was eliminated! 2 seconds later, all my
building were destroyed. Kralgon:
I have no buildings
Tek7: Newbie would win in
traditional SC, but this map goes until last unit is
eliminated
Tek7: just play it out My
shuttle found Newbie's last hatchery at the 12 o'clock mineral only
expansion and I rallied my units just outside of their site range. My
shuttle exploded while moving away from the hydras being sent in from the
drop at the island expansion. Newbie killed one of my reavers, but the
other blasted all the hydras with 1 hit and I finished off his hatchery.
At this point, I said "gg" and "you win" and left. Lessons
learned: 1) Newbie is not a
newbie
2) Don't waste storms on drones if you can kill them with other units
3) Make sure your reavers always have scarabs loaded
4) Newbie is actually [ToJ]Mark smurfing (not really)
