1.03 I continue my success in the world of Starcraft II FFAs. In games 26-50 (search my name for the first set) I'm not quite as dominant: winning half my games instead of 2/3. Still, that's twice as many wins as would be expected for the average player, or if FFAs were the result of random chance.

The competition is a lot stiffer in this set of games. I'm up against a lot of really good people (possibly related to my better 1v1 record or just my previous success), some of whom even know how to play FFA! Which means that observers hoping to learn how to play FFA will find more games that are genuine learning opportunities.

Of course, a number of my losses are also due to the vagaries of other people's (or my) poor scouting, and my SC2 FFA guideline of the day:

The reaper rusher and his target both lose.

Its shocking how many people pursue a 1v1 strategy in FFA and then complain about imbalance or (insert whine here) when they inevitably get crushed.

Speaking of whining about imbalance, for my money corrupters are the best anti-air available for the support. Zerg should almost always get them. I dunno about other formats, but they could use a nerf in FFA.

Planning for stupid opponents is part of the game, and I found myself pursuing a more defensive strategy early in many games, which led to tighter mid and late games, including no less than two shocking comebacks from near-total destruction.

As before, the games in which I learned something (or just saw something really cool) strategically or tactically are marked with an apostrophe. There's also a number of ordinary good games as well....

Raider (1)May, 28th 2010 Good PvT on MetalopolisNR 51
Download
Patch 13 Fairly long and involved PvT.

My enemy goes for fast expo as T, so I decide to take one of my own and get colossus expecting the 4 rax marines after expo that day9 did a daily on. Instead he goes rauder/tank/raven and uses PDDs very effectively to shut down my stalkers and pick off colossus with viking, forcing me to scramble to change unit composition entirely.
