Tourney Rules:
1)The tourney will be held on
2)Players will be selected on a first come, first
serve basis. In order to qualify you must either be recognized by myself as an
old school br.comer or have posted a report with a
rating higher than 7.0 in their lifetime. This is to make sure the people
playing are part of the br.com community and not people just looking for the
prize. This tourney is about the
br.com community having a little fun. To sign up just email me at
mark4@battlereports.com, include a link to your report or tell me how old
school you are, and the name you'll compete under as well as your b.net name
and usual name. The number of players is essentially unlimited, but if we get
more than 64 you’re going in as an alternate and may not get to play.
Right now I’m going try to arrange it so we have at least four players
for the first set of games and four for the finals. If we get a full house of
64 people, It’ll be 8 player FFAs
for all first round games and another 8 player FFA for the winners of the
second. I’ll determine the number of games and players in them on Sunday
when we see who shows up.
3)The tourney is designed to have a little fun. Please
be good mannered towards your opponents in the channel, and of course any cheat
programs and map hacks are entirely prohibited. This shouldn't be taken as
forbidding any cheese tactics you happen to enjoy using during the games
themselves. Excessive spamming of the tourney channel or another player may
result in your disqualification. I don't think we'll have much problem here
since it's a community tourney. All games will be played on melee, NOT FFA
setting. That means you can ally, backstab, nuke rush, 5 SCV rush T_Mac, whatever. The only real rule is, only one person can
win each game. Do whatever you can to win. Bonus points awarded for gay strats. Anyone who makes another player cry gets bragging
rights. You cannot agree to share the prize money in any way shape or form.
4)We
might have a few disconnects during the games. Who cares, it’s FFA.
Disconnect is a loss!
5)Since it's a br.com tourney, I'm sure that we will
have plenty of people wanting to observe the games. If a tourney admin wishes
to watch, they must be allowed to. Second priority goes to officially selected
people wishing to write a battle report on the games. Other observers are
optional and must be approved by all players. No observer may say ANYTHING to
either player in the game. Any observer must leave on request of the players except
a tourney official. And if I’m the one in a game lagging it up,
I’ll leave so the rest of the officials will probably do so also if
it’s a problem.
6)In keeping with the BR.com philosophy of spreading
the wealth, the winner of the final FFA game will be given $75, the second
place person gets the knowledge they should have allied with other people
against the winner. In order to claim your prize you must provide me with a
valid name and address, or an email address with a paypal
account associated. I really, really prefer paypal,
but I can work with other methods if they are easy.
7)It's a single elimination tourney. This is for two
reasons. First, it’s a lot easier to run and keep track of. This makes it
funner for everyone when you don't have to wait on an
admin to figure out whats going on. Second, FFAs are long as it is. No double elimination boys.
8)I’m picking the maps. First round is Orbital
Death, second will be Primeval isles.
9)The winning person must save a replay from each tourney game and email it to me after each game. I ask that you also post the replay at the br.com replay section.
