Tourney Rules:
1)The tourney will be held on
2)Players will be selected on a first come, first
serve basis. In order to qualify you must either be recognized by myself as an
old school br.comer or have posted a report with a
rating higher than 7.0 in their lifetime. This is to make sure the people
playing are part of the br.com community and not people just looking for the
prize. This tourney is about the
br.com community and our friends having a little fun. To sign up just email me
at mark4@battlereports.com, include a link to your report or tell me how old
school you are, and the name you'll compete under as well as your b.net name
and usual name. The number of players is essentially unlimited, but if we get
more than 64 you’re going in as an alternate and may not get to play. If
we have an off number of teams some people may get randomly generated first
round bys.
3)The tourney is designed to have a little fun. Please
be good mannered towards your opponents in the channel, and of course any cheat
programs and map hacks are entirely prohibited. This shouldn't be taken as
forbidding any cheese tactics you happen to enjoy using during the games
themselves. Excessive spamming of the tourney channel or another player may
result in your disqualification. I don't think we'll have much problem here
since it's a community tourney.
4)We
might have a few disconnects during the games. If both teams agree, then you
may restart the game from a saved game or restart the entire game. Otherwise it
gets played as 2v1 until the finish. If both players from a team disconnect
that team loses, no matter what was happening in game. Finals games will be
restarted from a save.
5)Since it's a br.com tourney, I'm sure that we will
have plenty of people wanting to observe the games. If a tourney admin wishes
to watch, they must be allowed to. Second priority goes to officially selected
people wishing to write a battle report on the games. Other observers are
optional and must be approved by all players. No observer may say ANYTHING to
either player in the game. The finals and semifinals will probably be full of
officials, so don't expect to get to observe them. Any observer must leave on
request of the players except a tourney official. And if I’m the one in a
game lagging it up, I’ll leave so the rest of the officials will probably
do so also if it’s a problem.
6)In keeping with the BR.com philosophy of spreading
the wealth, the first place team will be given $50, the second place team
leader $30
7)It's a single elimination tourney. This is for two
main reasons. First, it’s a lot easier to run and keep track of. This
makes it funner for everyone when you don't have to
wait on an admin to figure out whats going on.
Second, we have a lot of truly good players, but I want to make it fun for the
more casual participants as well. In a single game, single elimination tourney
luck plays more of a factor and weird and unusual strats
that work only once can be used. Finals will be best of three.
8)If both teams agree on a map, they can use any
official blizzard map, WCG, or PGT map on melee setting and play on that map. If
they can’t agree First round the games will be held on Medusa, Second on Winter
Conquest, Third on Rivalry, and Finals on Dire.
9)The winning team leader must save a replay from each tourney game and email it to me after each game. I ask that you post the replay at the br.com replay section.
10) Big thanks go out to Dibbler and Ling who contributed most of the prize money to this tourney. People like this who give back to the community help give everyone a fun time, and they have my admiration.
