Thursday, June 21, 2007, 04:13 PMRSS - that's Really Simple Syndication - is a way of keeping current with the dev blog. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS).
Firefox 2.0 has something called Live Bookmarks that reads these RSS feeds. You'll have a little button on the top of your browser that you can open up and see the most current blog posts.
This is one of the features I'd like to implement in BR.com 4.0.
So subscribe to it, keep hip to what's happenin' for battlereports.com.
Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 07:00 PMSo I wanted to start something meaningful before I posted anything in this blog and let you all know about it. But I got too excited.
The purpose of this blog is to inform you of what old man Lucky is up to with regards to the site.
Well, I'll give you an update to this point.
I've started running battlereports.com on a localhost. I can't seem to export any rows from br.com's sql database, so it looks pretty poor.
I'm also running on windows, so anywhere there's a directory there's an error. For example, directory /forum/index.php is actually \forum\index.php on my localhost. So that's always fun.
Anyways, I think first on my plate is to get that up and running. And after that, I want to clean up pretty much everything. There are a lot of calls to global variables, which is just poor practice. And the site doesn't have a lot of seperation between display and data (that's just my first impression).
Also, I'm re-learning all those SQL queries I forgot so long ago.
A little bit of geek humor:
Select * from 'users' where clue > 0;
0 rows returned
