I guess I just read fast? Took me a total of 25 minutes to read the whole thing, stopping to examine pics. Guess my high school making us take speed reading courses paid off.
*Almost* enough to make me start playing Civ3 again...almost. And considering how much I love to play BW that's a real accomplishment. And was a great way to spend 30 minutes.
Nothing feels as good as bombarding the hell out of a big city. I've had times when I invaded another continent and ended up having to bombard a metropolis down to a city to take it. 80 pieces of artillery can do that surprisingly quickly, though. :)
Damn impressive, but it just didn't feel like a 10 to me. :/ I don't really know why I think that, but I do. Guess you're lucky I'm not a rater, eh? ^^ |

hmmm, my one complaint about this isntallment, and I guess for the game overall, is that you were too dominant throughout minus the early early game. I never got the impression you were in danger of losing, even when you were threatened, say by the french late game, you still seemed in complete control. I would have liked to see you play this game on the toughest difficulty level instead, this may sound ridiculous but the game almost seemed to easy. You are obviously a civ veteran, and you exploited AI tendencies pretty much perfectly. While I dont think for a second you were a favorite to win the entire game, never once was your territory threatened to any real extent.
More important question, did they end up releasing an online multiplayer version of Civ III so we can play against other people? |

| Yeah, with the Conquests expansion(and don't bother with Play the World since it is included in Conquests) you can play online multiplayer. There are numerous options that you can use to make the game last a reasonable amount of time. Of course, the good old hotseat is available too as is email game. |

And I can see where you are coming from fessor--it got progressively more easy as I played, which was mostly due to only one other super power developing (France). Games where 2-4 nations are about the same at the head of the world are much harder to win because you aren't dominant by the time you have to face one of supers.
And yeah, there is one more difficulty level (Sid), but every time I tried playing on it I got whoopped really badly :) |

hahaha 2 weeks before this was released i went to the store to buy civ 3 inspired by those reports I read a while while back (praetor anyone too?). A week before this report i had to go back and read part 1 to get remotely good at the game. Anyway now this comes out so amazing, 10.
About civ3 though ive never gotten past the midevil age ^_^. To lazy and when I get that far into it I feel like starting a new game. Will I ever be able to get into the Industrial Age? most likely not >_< |

Wonderful, wonderful report. Just incredible. Dwarfs most of the other 10s on this site. I loved it.
Although there would be two ways to eliminate the errors;
a) Get someone else to proofread it. It's always difficult to proofread your own work. I would have happily done it, and i'm sure many other people would.
b) USE A SPELL CHECKER! This may not pick up on every mistake, but many of them were nothing more than typographical errors or simple misspellings (Hittie :-/) that would have been picked up.
That said, this deserves a 10 for both quality and quantity. Outstanding.

Great reports! I happened to stumble upon the 3rd one and proceeded to read all 3 parts over the past 2 days. This report has helped motivate me to give Civ III another try (first time around I didn't really understand it, so I gave up in favor of Total War). Truly great. My only minor complaints are the small number of spelling errors and piss-poor CSS.
Nice to see that after all these years, BR.COM can still get some "epic" producers.

Inspiring to say the least. The amount of armies you had under your control was baffling.

| Which overview screen do you mean? If you are talking about the one that shows the status of various victory conditions, it only exists in Conquests and there it can be accessed by clicking on the small V button in the bottom right of your screen--on the right of the world map. |
