You're using that first-comment bug on the website aren't you, AREN'T YOU! Johnny, people seem to be able to add comments to reports before they are reports =(.

Yes, it is possible to add comments before a report is a report.....I won't say how, and I only used it for posts like #100,000, which maybe our grandkids will see....I won't abuse it for a number we'll actually get to, I promise! (Well, I did once, one we might reach in a year, but I won't do it again.)

Cool report. I never realized how much strategy there was in melee ship picking, but when i played the game, i was only like 14 or so.
The single player game is one of the best gaming experiences ever, even better than halflife. I wish i could play through it again but it doesnt want to run on my win98 system :( DOS crap :(
If you know any tricks in getting it to run, please post a further comment or email me at e_doerr@yahoo.com

You have to run it in DOS-mode. Once in DOS mode, you may need to get enough conventional memory, but that is usually just a matter of rem-ing out your cd-rom driver.

Go to www.star-control.com

On the left side of the page, find the link called 'Buy Games.' Tons of ways to get it =).

great report. Brings back memories... but what happened to the P.E.S.K.Y D.O.G.G.I.E.S ? I thought those were the Chmmrr ships. Woof! Woof! Woof. Kaiiiii!

Those were Chenjesu. I could say more, but that would be a spoiler =).

And weren't there Mmmmmrrh ships too? The fastest ship in the game with heat seeking missiles, whose special was to transform into a close range fighter with dual lasers?

I miss those P.E.S.K.Y D.O.G.G.I.E.S

Mmrnmhrm (try saying it with your mouth closed. It's much easier.), but they weren't the fastest ship in the game. They were in Starcon1, and it seems like you've only played Starcon1 from your responses. Get Starcon2, it's MUCH better.

Well, because of this report, I downloaded the Star Control 2 demo, and I LOVED it! I'm going to be getting the full game soon. And because of www.star-control.com, I know have the Spathi music playing on loop while I browse :).

BTW, don't bother making a report on the role-playing demo. One, I've already played it, so it would be ultra-dull for me (considering I've played the demo, oh, 2.5 times already) :). Two, it would be quite a bit more interesting for people to just download the demo - I mean, meeting Fwiffo for the first time (in the full version, you start out in the solar system, I believe, which means that you probably would meet Fwiffo right away) is an experience to treasure in your gaming memory forever. And yes, I have an unhealthy obsession with Spathi. NO, not THAT kind of unhealthy obsession, thank you very much.

Boomp-ba-doom-bum, Boomp-ba-doom-bum, Bwump...
It's healthy to have an unhealthy obsession with Spathi. I have my start up and shutdown screens converted to a picture of the Eluder, Fwiffo, and the Spathi High Council.
